Our

About Our Teams

T-Ball

T-Ball is for young players, male and female, typically 4 to 6 years old. Players must be 4 years old by May 1st of the year that the season is played, and can play till they are 7. It is a first introduction to the great games of baseball and softball. Players learn to hit a ball (soft, for safety reasons) off a te and practice running, throwing, and fielding. They play some games and have fun with new friends.

Softball

Harvard softball is available for girls grades 1-7.  There are 3 levels of league play: U8 (1st thru 3rd grade), U10 (3rd thru 5th grade) and U12 (5th thru 7th grade). Depending on the mix of ages and skills, teams are fielded at the appropriate levels. We play in The Cortland League against Bolton, Groton, Lancaster, Littleton and Maynard.

Rookies (U8)

Rookie Ball is typically for players ages 7 and 8. Players work on skills and  fundamentals - hitting, base running, throwing, fielding, and team play. The season begins as coach pitch. As the kids gain experience and confidence it transitions to a mix of kid-pitch and coach-pitch. Coaches are permitted on the field during play to help ensure that players get plenty of hands on instructional help and positive reinforcement. Rookie Ball is an important step on their way to the more organized, competitive arenas.

Minors (U10)

Cal Ripken Minors is primarily for players ages 9-10. While the emphasis is on development and instruction, it is usually a players first exposure to competitive, organized baseball. It is "real" baseball in the sense that the kids are responsible for all aspects of the game including pitching and catching. Games are played against comparable teams in the Macintosh League which includes the towns of Ayer, Shirley, Littleton, Pepperell, Groton, Ashby and Townsend.

Majors (U12)

Cal Ripken Majors is primarily for players ages 11 and 12. It represents a fairly skilled level of play and demands a fair amount of commitment from players. It is more competitive than Minors and players may not receive equal playing time. Games are played against comparable teams in the Macintosh League which includes the towns of Ayer, Shirley, Littleton, Pepperell, Groton, Ashby and Townsend.
